Abstract

Se utilizan senales polifonicas para crear una senal principal, tipicamente una senal mono, y una senal lateral (Xlateral). Un numero de esquemas (81) de codificacion para la senal lateral (Xlateral) se proporciona. Cada esquema (81) de codificacion esta caracterizado por un juego de cuadros secundarios )90= de diferentes longitudes. La longitud total de los cuadros secundarios (90) corresponde a la longitud del cuadro (80) de codificacion del esquema (81) de codificacion. El esquema (81) de codificacion que se va a usar en la senal lateral (Xlateral) se selecciona dependiendo del contenido de senal presente de las senales polifonicas. En una modalidad preferida, una senal residual lateral se crea como la diferencia entre la senal lateral y la senal principal llevadas a escala con un factor de equilibrio. El factor de equilibrio se selecciona para reducir al minimo la senal residual lateral. La senal residual lateral optimizada y el factor de equilibrio se codifican y proporcionan como parametros de codificacion que representan la senal lateral.
