Abstract

Se exponen composiciones catalizadoras que comprenden oxidos de titanio, vanadio y estano que son adecuadas para la produccion de anhidrido ftalico mediante la oxidacion de (-xileno y/o naftaleno en la fase gaseosa. Los catalizadores exhiben excelente actividad y selectividad. El catalizador comprende de 2 hasta 15% en peso 8calculado como V2O5) de vanadio, de 1 hasta 15% en peso ( calculado como SnO2) de estano y comprende ademas de 70 hasta 97% en peso (calculado como TiO2) titanio. En una modalidad preferida el catalizador de la invencion comprende hasta 5% en peso (calculado como M2O) de al menos un metal alcalino, de preferencia litio, potasio o rubidio, y de mayor preferencia cesio. En una modalidad todavia mas preferida, el cesio esta presente en una cantidad de 0.01 hasta 2% en peso (calculado como Cs2O).
