Abstract
Se proporcionan un metodo y aparato para detectar cortes de escena en una corriente de bits de video. Se determina (309) el numero de macrobloques codificados para cada uno de la pluralidad de cortes de escena. Se determina (310) el numero de macrobloques pronosticados para cada uno de la pluralidad de cortes de escena potenciales. Despues se calcula una proporcion del numero de macrobloques codificados con el numero de macrobloques pronosticados para cada uno de la pluralidad de cuadros correspondientes con los cortes de escena potenciales. Un cuadro que tiene la proporcion deseada se selecciona (312). La proporcion del cuadro seleccionado se compara con el valor de umbral (313). Se registra un corte de escena como detectado en respuesta a la determinacion de que la proporcion del cuadro seleccionado satisface el valor de umbral (314).
