Abstract

Un sistema para extender economicamente el intervalo operacional efectivo de un sistema de control remoto infrarrojo que tiene una unidad de control remoto con un transmisor infrarrojo, y un dispositivo controlado que tiene un receptor infrarrojo. El sistema incluye un primer transmisor para recibir senales de IR de la unidad de control remoto y transmitir una senal de salida de RF que corresponde a la senal infrarroja recibida de la unidad de control remoto. La senal de RF se recibe por un receptor de RF que genera una segunda senal de IR que corresponde a la senal de radio recibida. La segunda senal de IR se transmite hacia y se recibe por el dispositivo controlado por IR. En algunos casos, la primera senal de control de IR, y en todos los casos, la senal de RF, incluye informacion/datos que se refieren a la frecuencia portadora de IR. Esta informacion/datos de la frecuencia portadora de IR, en lugar de la transmision de RF de la frecuencia portadora de IR real permite una reduccion del ancho de banda de RF puesto que no se necesita transmitir el espectro de frecuencia completo de los posibles portadores de IR, permitiendo de esta manera que se use la modulacion por manipulacion por desplazamiento de amplitud (ASK, por sus siglas en ingles). El receptor de RF descodifica la senal recibida y usa la informacion/datos para configurar una segunda senal de control de IR que es compatible con y transmitida al dispositivo controlado.
