Abstract
Se describe un proceso de fundicion directa para producir hierro y/o aleaciones ferrosas. El proceso funciona en una escala comercial en un recipiente metalurgico que tiene un crisol, paredes laterales y una boveda, y una dimension de ancho minimo del interior del crisol al menos de 4 metros. El proceso es un proceso basado en bano fundido e incluye el suministro de materiales de alimentacion, por ejemplo, material ferruginoso, material carbonaceo y fundentes en el recipiente y la fundicion del material de alimentacion ferruginoso en metal fundido en el bano fundido y la generacion de gases en el bano. El proceso tambien incluye la inyeccion de chorros de gas que contiene oxigeno, siendo aire o aire hasta con 50% de oxigeno a traves de 3 o 15 mas lanzas en un espacio por encima de la superficie inactiva del bano fundido (el "espacio superior") y los gases de combusti6n generados en el proceso y la generacion de un movimiento ascendente del material fundido a partir del bano fundido en direccion del espacio superior con la finalidad de facilitar la transferencia termica al bano y minimizar la perdida de calor del recipiente. El proceso se caracteriza por el arrastre de un volumen de gas del espacio superior hacia los chorros de gas que contiene oxigeno inyectado en el recipiente que es de 2-6 veces el volumen del gas inyectado.
