Abstract

La presente invencion se refiere a secuencias de nucleotidos que estan involucradas en aumentar o disminuir la velocidad de ovulacion de un mamifero. En particular, la invencion tiene que ver en general con mutaciones novedosas en un gen que esta involucrado en aumentar las velocidades de ovulacion en mamiferos hembra heterocigotos; estas mutaciones ocasionan esterilidad en mamiferos hembra homocigotos. El conocimiento de la secuencia de genes mutada puede aplicarse a una prueba para identificar mamiferos hembra y macho heterocigotos de homocigotos portando el gen mutado. Este conocimiento de la funcion biologica del gen y sus mutaciones puede utilizarse para aumentar o disminuir la velocidad de ovulacion de mamiferos hembra o para inducir la esterilidad o fertilidad reducida en mamiferos hembra.
