Abstract
Se describen diversos sistemas y métodos para proteger contra daño por corrientes inversas los ánodos para extracción electrolítica que tienen recubrimientos con actividad electrocatalítica en un banco de celdas electrolíticas. En la primera modalidad, se proporciona una o más fuentes auxiliares de energía que, cuando se accionan por una o más condiciones predeterminadas, mantienen el banco de celdas electrolíticas en un estado eléctrico relativamente inocuo para los ánodos que tienen recubrirnientos con actividad electrocatalítica. En una segunda modalidad, la invención se dirige a un método para mantener la polarización positiva de los ánodos en una celda para la extracción electrolítica de los cátodos (es decir, en una región potencial donde el recubrimiento del ánodo no es susceptible de daño significativo). En una última modalidad, la invención se dirige a diversos métodos para la instalación de ánodos de reemplazo y el mantenimiento de las celdas para extracción electrolítica.
