Abstract
Se presentan isoformas de la AMPc fosfodiesterasa de humano y de rata (denotadas como PDE4D), asi como el ADN (ARN) que codifica para estos polipeptidos. Tambien se presentan metodos para utilizar estos polipeptidos en pruebas de diagnostico para identificar mutaciones en secuencias de acidos nucleicos que codifican para los polipeptidos de la presente invencion, para detectar niveles alterados del polipeptido de la presente invencion, como una forma para detectar enfermedades y metodos para tamizar moduladores potenciales, especialmente, inhibidores de las PDE4D (denotadas como PDE4D6) aqui presentadas, como una forma para aumentar el AMP ciclico en las neuronas, y de este modo, tratar problemas neurologicos como la perdida de la memoria de largo plazo, si no es que evitar en su totalidad estas enfermedades. Tambien se describen animales transgenicos que expresan a los polipeptidos aqui presentados.
