Abstract
La invencion se refiere a un oxido de cerio con poros, que tienen una estructura laminar uniforme. Los poros pueden estado dispuestos, al menos parcialmente, en direcciones substancialmente paralelas y pueden también extenderse a través de los granos. El método para preparar este oxido de cerio comprende tratar por calor un compuesto que consiste esencialmente de octahidrato de carbonato de cerio. La atmosfera en la cual se realiza el tratamiento es realizado incluye una mezcla de aire vapor de agua o de oxígeno/valor de agua, con una fraccion del volumen del vapor de agua de al menos el 40%. Este oxido de cerio es particularmenteutil como un catalizador, en especial en la catálisis de la post-combustion de vehículos de motor.
