Abstract
La presente invencion se relaciona con intercalados formados al poner en contacto un material estratificado, por ejemplo filosilicato, con un modificador de superficie monomérico intercalante que incluye un radical alquilo con por lo menos 6 átomos de carbono y un monomero y oligomero polimerizable o bien un polímero. El modificador de superficie monomérico intercalante convierte la region intercapa de los materiales intercalados de ser hidrofílica a ser hidrofobica, y por lo tanto los oligomeros o monomeros polimerizables o los polímeros pueden intercalarse fácilmente dentro de la separacion intercapa. La presencia conjunta del modificador de superficie monomérico intercalante y del monomero u oligomero polimerizable o del polímero proporcionan un ambiente para más monomeros u oligomeros polimerizables o polímeros que vana a intercalarse dentro de la separacion intercapa y los intercalados se exfolian fácilmente en las matrices poliméricas para forma nanocompuestos. Los nanocompuestos (por ejemplo epoxi-arcilla) que se preparan a partir de los intercalados demostraron propiedades mejoradas de resistencia química, térmica y mecánica en comparacion con las matrices poliméricas de pristina.
