Abstract

La invencion describe un material activo para un cátodo de una celda de níquel, un hidroxicarbonato de níquel-metal que tiene la formula Ni1-2xM2x(OH)2(CO3)x(0<x<=0.05), en donde M es un metal trivalente, el diámetro promedio del material activo es de 8.20 æm, su densidad de ahusamiento es de mayor de 1.6 g/cm3, la constante de estructura de red de su eje C es de 4-6 Å, la constante de estructura de su eje A es de 2.5-2.7 Å, y su forma es globular. El material activo incrementa la capacidad de una celda incrementando la disponibilidad del material activo, hace posible ciclos de carga-descarga de alta velocidad y tienen una vida de más de dos veces que el material activo que utiliza un hidroxido de níquel ordinario.
