Abstract

Esta invencion es un proceso en solucion para la preparacion de copolímeros de etileno-alfa-olefina/diolefina que comprende poner en contacto etileno, uno o mas monomeros de alfa-olefina, y opcionalmente uno o más monomeros de dieno, con un sistema catalizador que contiene un activador de catalizador y un compuesto de metaloceno del grupo IV, que comprende a) conducir la reaccion de polimerizacion a una temperatura de alrededor de 60 a 150 C; b) seleccionar como compuesto de metaloceno del grupo IV uno o mas miembros del grupo que consiste en compuestos de moniciclopentadienilo cíclico de metal del grupo IV y (Bis) indenilo hafnio metaloceno punteado covalentemente; y c) mantener la concentracion de alfa-olefina a una relacion molar respecto de la de etileno de entre alrededor de 0.3 a 7.0 y una relacion molar de diolefina a etileno de entre alrededor de 0.01 y 0.4. En una forma de realizacion preferida, el proceso comprende: 1) mezclar con un solvente de reaccion el uno o mas monomeros de alfa-olefina, el uno o más monomeros de dieno opcionales, y el activador de catalizador, ya sea juntos o separados, posteriormente 2) mezclar con el solvente de reaccion un compuesto de despojo efectivo antes de o con la introduccion del compuesto de metaloceno del grupo IV no activado bajo condiciones tales que el compuesto de despojo esté en contacto con el compuesto activador por un período de tiempo que no excede de alrededor de 1 minuto, y 3) poner en contacto el compuesto activador con el compuesto de metaloceno del grupo IV no activado en presencia de dichos monomeros. El proceso puede ser ventajosamente puesto en práctica a una temperatura de reaccion de al menos 60 degree C, de preferencia sobre 80 degree C, con la mayor temperatura de reaccion de al menos 60 degree C, de preferencia sobre 80 degree C, con la mayor preferencia sobre 110 degree C, para lograr un polímero de peso molecular promedio numérico elevado teniendo contenidos altos contenidos de monomero de alfa.
