Abstract

La presente invencion se refiere a un nuevo proceso destinado al curtimiento de cuero al cromo y/o al tanino. El proceso propuesto por la invencion abarca las etapas de purga o limpieza de la piel, acondicionamiento y curtimiento al cromo y/o al tanino. El acondicionamiento emplea el hidroxibutanal, que reacciona bloqueando las aminas de la colágena y librando carboxilas. Esta reaccion reduce el punto isoeléctrico para 4.0 a 4,5 tomando la piel susceptible al curtimiento efectivo al cromo uniéndose a las carboxilas, o al tanino uniéndose por puentes de hidrogeno. El hidroxibutanal es empleado en el acondicionamiento en la proporcion del 2,5 al 3,0% sobre el peso de al piel exenta de cal, en la concentracion del 40 +- 2% y con pH de 4,2 a 4,4 siendo el tiempo de reaccion de 3 a 4 horas.
