Abstract

La presente invencion se relaciona con un modem de alta velocidad para transmitir simultáneamente señales de frecuencia vocal y señales de datos digitales precodificadas sobre un solo canal de comunicacion. El modem es operable para combinar una señal de frecuencia vocal con una señal de datos digitales precodificada para la transmision a las altas velocidades, niveles de energía altos y baja distorsion previamente alcanzable por los modems de solo datos de alta velocidad. La señal de frecuencia vocal es procesada usando las técnicas de procesamiento de datos convencionales para producir una señal de frecuencia vocal y una señal de control que contiene informacion relacionada con la codificacion de la señal de frecuencia vocal. La señal de control es multiplexada y representada para la transmision con los datos digitales. Los bits seleccionados de los datos multiplexados se usan para definir la rotacion de los datos digitales y hacer girar o rotar el vector de frecuencia vocal. Los datos digitales son precodificados para compensar y reducir al mínimo el ruido en el canal de comunicacion. El vector de frecuencia vocal que se hizo girar y los datos digitales precodificados son entonces combinados y transmitidos. En un lugar remoto, la señal transmitida es recibida por el modem receptor y es filtrada y separada para recuperar de este modo las señales codificadas individuales. La separacion de la señal de frecuencia codificada de la señal de datos digitales precodificada se efectua antes de la reconstruccion de la señal de datos digitales precodificada. Entonces se invierte la rotacion de la señal de frecuencia vocal codificada. Las señales de frecuencia vocal codificada y de datos digitales precodificada son entonces descodificadas individualmente para recuperar las señales de frecuencia vocal de datos que se originaron en el modem transmisor.
