Abstract
UN método y aparato para determinar la ubicacion de una unidad movil (412) dentro de un sistema celular. Se genera una señal sincronizada en una fase comun en cada estacion base (400, 401, 402) en un sistema. La unidad movil (412) transmite un tono de señal. Cada estacion base (400, 401, 402) compara la fase del tono de señal con la fase comun de la señal sincronizada para producir un desplazamiento de fase. Un controlador del sistema compara la diferencia entre el desplazamiento de fase de una primer estacion base (400) y el desplazamiento de fase de una segunda estacion base (401) y determina la diferencia en distancia entre la primer estacion base (400) y la unidad movil (412) y la segunda estacion base (401) y la unidad movil (412), definiendo una curva hiperbolica o lineal de ubicaciones. El controlador del sistema compara la diferencia entre el desplazamiento de fase de la primer estacion base (400) y el desplazamiento de fase de una tercer estacion base (402) y determina la diferencia en distancia entre la primera estacion base (400) y la unidad movil (412), y la tercera estacion base (402) y la unidad movil (412) definiendo una segunda curva hiperbolica de ubicaciones. El controlador del sistema determina la interseccion de las curvas hiperbolicas, primera y segunda, determinando así la ubicacion de la unidad movil (412).
