Abstract
Una composición de imprimador acuoso para facilitar y promover buena adhesión a través de una interfase entre un substrato no poroso y una composición de revestimiento polimérico, que contiene aproximadamente 0.05 a aproximadamente 0.3 partes en peso de un aminopropilsilano o un mercaptopropilsilano por 100 partes en peso de agua y opcionalmente para facilitar adhesión bajo condiciones húmedas, hasta aproximadamente 0.4 parte en peso de un silado hidrofóbico por 100 partes en peso de agua y aminopropilsilano o mercaptopropilsilano. La composición imprimadora no tóxica, no es inflamable y está libre o substancialmente libre de cualesquiera componentes orgánicos volátiles ambientalmente indeseables . De acuerdo con un aspecto de la invención, la composición imprimadora incluye una cantidad efectiva de un surfactante convencional para humectar uniformemente la superficie del substrato, para permitir dispersión uniforme del agente de acoplamiento silano sobre la superficie. La composición imprimadora, también de preferencia se ajusta a un pH de aproximadamente 2.0 hasta aproximadamente 5.5 para inhibir condensación y oligomerización del agente de acoplamiento silano y de esta manera incrementar la vida de estante o de almacenamiento útil de la composición.
