Abstract
PURPOSE: To provide the titled compsn. which exhibits good adhesive properties to various substrates and produces a coating film having excellent wear resistance and weather resistance, consisting of an organotrialkoxysilane, a specified organosilicon compd. and colloidal silica.
CONSTITUTION: 100pts.wt. Organotrialkoxysilane (A) of formula I [wherein R1 is (un)substituted monovalent hydrocarbon group; R2 is alkyl] is mixed with 1W 30pts.wt. organosilicon compd. (B) of formula II [wherein R3, R4 are each alkyl; R5, R6 are each (un)substituted monovalent hydrocarbon group; A is bivalent hydrocarbon group or bivalent org. group. contg O or S; a, b are each 2W3] in the presence of a suitable org. acid. Then 50W200pts. colloidal silica (C) having a particle diameter of 7W50μ is added to the above mixt. The pH of the resulting mixt. is adjusted to 3.0W6.0. Then the mixt. is aged at ordinary temp. W60°C for 10hrW7 days. This compsn. is coated on the surface of a substrate such as a plastic molded article so as to give a coat having a thickness of 0.1W20μ, and can be cured by heating to 60W150°C.
