Abstract

Un dispositivo iontoforético por el usuario de la presente invención, incluye un conjunto de electrodo, un depósito de electrodo, y cuando menos un depósito de fármaco. El dispositivo se divide o se separa de otra manera en cuando menos dos partes conteniendo una parte al depósito de electrodo, y conteniendo la otra al depósito del fármaco,, el cual puede incluir un medicamento en una forma seca. En una modalidad, las dos partes están contenidas cada una en compartimientos separados de una bolsa. En otra modalidad, las partes están contenidas en un solo compartimiento, y están divididas por una barrera. Un método para activar el dispositivo incluye hacer que las dos partes entren en un contacto conductor eléctrico una con la otra, hasta hidratar cuando menos parcialmente uno de los depósitos. Esto se puede realizar, por ejemplo, bien sea doblando el dispositivo para poner las dos partes en contacto una con la otra, o simplemente removiendo la barrera que divide a las dos partes. En la alternativa, el dispositivo puede incluir dos partes separadas, las cuales se pueden juntar para activar el dispositivo. De esta manera, el dispositivo es adecuado para utilizarse para entregar una alta eficiencia de dosis, mientras que proporciona una vida de estante comercialmente adecuada.
