Abstract

Uno de los mayores problemas a los que se enfrenta actualmente la industria del aceite crudo es la presencia de grandes cantidades de agua y sales, las cuales no pueden ser removidas eficientemente por los polímeros deshidratantes convencionales. A esto hay que añadir que las operaciones de estimulación ácida de pozos provocan la degradación química de desemulsionantes tales como poliéteres y resinas fenólicas, reduciendo drásticamente su eficiencia como removedores de agua y sales. Con base a lo anterior se han desarrollado copolímeros que son combinaciones de un monómero acrílico y otro aminoacrílico. Estos copolímeros son sintetizados mediante polimerización en emulsión semi-continua (bajo condiciones de deficiencia de monómero), lo cual permite asegurar tanto la homogeneidad de las diferentes cadenas como la aleatoriedad en la distribución de los monómeros. Las soluciones de estos copolímeros aleatorios han mostrado una eficiencia similar o superior a las de combinaciones (formulaciones) de dos o tres copolímeros en bloque al ser aplicados en aceites crudos ligeros o pesados. De este modo, los copolímeros acrílico-aminoacrílico muestran un excelente desempeño como iniciadores de la ruptura de emulsiones agua/aceite, coalescedores de las gotas de agua y clarificadores de la fase acuosa remanente. La capacidad deshidratante de los copolímeros acrílico-aminoacrílico es superior a la de poliéteres y resinas disponibles en el mercado. Adicionalmente, a diferencia de los poliéteres y resinas deshidratantes disponibles en el mercado de desemulsionantes, la estructura química de los copolímeros acrílico-aminoacrílico les confiere resistencia a la degradación inducida por cambios abruptos de pH al efectuarse operaciones de estimulación ácida de pozos.
