Abstract

En la presente se describen un sistema para posicionar una herramienta dentro de un pozo. La superficie interior de una cadena tubular se provee con una o más pluralidades de acanaladuras, cada una de las cuales define un perfil seleccionado. Se baja una herramienta dentro de la cadena tubular, que tiene una cuchilla en comunicación con ella. La cuchilla incluye una pluralidad de miembros salientes sobre ella, que definen un perfil complementario a por lo menos uno de los perfiles seleccionados formados por una de las pluralidades de acanaladuras. Un miembro de desvío en comunicación con la cuchilla desvía en forma continua la cuchilla hacia la superficie interior de la cadena tubular para hacer que el perfil de la cuchilla se engrane dentro del perfil complementario correspondiente de la cadena tubular. El posicionamiento de la herramienta en un lugar preciso para cortar un segmento tubular en una junta, liberando fuerzas de tracción desde la junta.
