Abstract

La presente invención se refiere a un método para retrasar o disminuir la maduración o senescencia de peras, que comprende las etapas de identificar las peras inmaduras para las cuales el retraso o disminución de la maduración o senescencia es deseable, aplicar glicina betaína a dichas peras, en donde la etapa de aplicar una cantidad efectiva es llevada a cabo en o después de la cosecha.
