Abstract
Se describe un sistema de diálisis, que comprende: un cartucho absorbente en comunicación fluida con por lo menos uno de un paciente o de un dializador, el cartucho absorbente incluye un alojamiento que tiene una capa de fosfato de circonio seguida por al menos una de una capa de ureasa, de una capa de óxido de circonio, o de una capa de carbono; un recipiente de almacenamiento en comunicación fluida con el cartucho absorbente; una bomba en comunicación fluida con el cartucho absorbente y el recipiente de almacenamiento; y una unidad de control en comunicación operable con la bomba, donde la unidad de control se programa para hacer que la bomba bombee un fluido de diálisis para que fluya (i) en una primera dirección a través del cartucho absorbente, donde la capa de fosfato de circonio entra en contacto con el fluido de diálisis antes de por lo menos una de la capa de ureasa, de la capa de óxido de circonio o de la capa de carbono y (ii) en una segunda dirección, inversa a la primera dirección, a través del cartucho absorbente donde por lo menos una de la capa de ureasa, de la capa de óxido de circonio o de la capa de carbono entra en contacto con el fluido de diálisis antes de la capa de fosfato de circonio.
