Abstract

La presente invención se refiere a un método para mejorar un hidrocarburo pesado, tal como el betún, a un producto más ligero y fluido y, más concretamente, a un producto final de hidrocarburo que está listo para la refinería y cumple con criterios de transporte por gasoductos sin la adición de diluyentes. Se elabora un subproducto sólido de asfalteno para facilidad de manejo y procesamiento posterior. La invención está dirigida a mejorar el betún canadiense, pero tiene aplicación general en la mejora de cualquier hidrocarburo pesado. El proceso comprende: (a) pre-calentar un fluido de proceso en un calentador a una temperatura de diseño; (b) mover el fluido de proceso precalentado a un reactor y convertir óptimamente asfaltenos en el líquido de proceso dentro del reactor para producir una corriente de fracción(es) de asfalteno(s)-nch térmicamente afectada(s) y una corriente de vapor no condensable de hidrocarburo(s) líquido(s) más ligero(s); (c) desasfaltar la corriente de asfaltenos-nch térmicamente afectada con un proceso de extracción por solvente en una corriente de aceite desasfaltado pesado (DAO) y una segunda corriente que contienen asfalteno concentrado; (d) separar los sólidos secos de asfalteno térmicamente afectados de la segunda corriente en una unidad de separación, recuperación del solvente del proceso; (e) una materia prima de refinería producida que comprende al menos una de las corrientes producidas.
