Abstract
Se proporciona un separador inercial en la entrada de toma de aire para eliminar los contaminantes del polvo y de la tierra del sistema de entrada del motor antes de que los mismos alcancen el filtro de aire. La toma de aire inicia un movimiento ciclónico en la entrada de la toma de aire que se propaga hacia abajo en un cañería de flujo descendente hacia el filtro de aire. El movimiento ciclónico se inicia por estatores radiales montados en una realización en la tapa de entrada de la toma de aire o, alternativamente, más abajo del cuello de la cañería de flujo descendente. Los contaminantes en el flujo de entrada se transportan en forma radial hacia afuera por el movimiento ciclónico y son luego expulsados a través de una serie de conductos de extracción formados en la cañería de flujo descendente de la toma de aire. Los álabes de extracción son perpendiculares al flujo ciclónico lo que permite que las partículas de polvo, tierra y agua se extraigan por medio de movimiento ciclónico y de gravedad. Las ranuras de salida se ubican en regiones de presión baja generadas por el flujo de aire aerodinámico externo alrededor de la toma de aire.
