Abstract

Un proceso para producir gas de síntesis de amoniaco a partir del reformado de hidrocarburos con vapor de agua en un reformador primario (1) equipado con una pluralidad de tubos catalíticos calentados externamente, y luego junto con aire en un reformador secundario (2), está caracterizado porque la reacción de dichos hidrocarburos con dicho vapor de agua en dicho reformador primario (1) es llevada a cabo a una presión operativa de más de 35 bar en los tubos catalíticos, porque el aire es agregado a dicho reformador secundario en exceso respecto de la cantidad de nitrógeno requerida para la síntesis de amoníaco, y porque el exceso de nitrógeno es eliminado corriente abajo del reformador secundario preferiblemente mediante separación criogénica o mediante tamices moleculares del tipo TSA o PSAL. Este proceso permite obtener elevadas capacidades de producción de gas de síntesis y costos de inversión y de energía inferiores.
