Abstract
Se proporciona un sello en suspensión para evitar fugas al ambiente más allá de un sello mecánico primario. El sello en suspenso incluye un anillo de accionamiento de polímero, el cual es la primera línea del sello de accionamiento y que define un labio sellador flexible normalmente espaciado a partir del eje. Cuando se sujeta a una fuga, este elemento se colapsa contra el eje o el manguito del eje y forma un sellado inicial. El accionamiento de este elemento ocurre en un flujo de fuga más bajo debido a la alta velocidad del vapor, dos fases de flujo, o gas. De manera secundaria, un sellado de metal/un anillo de extrusión es suministrado para proporcionar un segundo sello durante la fuga. El anillo de polímero proporciona una función de sellado inicial durante la fuga a una baja presión diferencial (por ejemplo, menos de 10 psid), y una vez que el anillo de polímero sella el eje o el manguito del eje, la presión de sellado incrementada caraca el anillo de polímero contra el sellado de metal/anillo de extrusión causando que se deforme de tal modo que el diámetro interno del anillo de metal esté en contacto con el eje o el manguito del eje para formar un segundo sello. El accionamiento del sello no depende de la temperatura sino del flujo de fuga actual. Si no está presente la fuga de vapor o hay una fuga de vapor muy baja, el accionamiento no se llevará a cabo a menos que el flujo de fuga líquida sea significantemente mayor.
