Abstract
The present invention relates to improvements in hydroformylation of an olefin having up to about 25 carbon atoms and being reacted with hydrogen and carbon monoxide in a liquid fade reaction zone to produce an aldehyde derivative of the olefin, leading to Hydroformylation is carried out at a temperature ranging from around 50ºC to around 200ºC, under a combined partial pressure of hydrogen and carbon monoxide of around 68 atmospheres, and with a ratio of partial pressure of hydrogen relative to that of monoxide. carbon from about 10: 1 to 1:10 where the improvement involves catalyzing hydroformylation with a rhodium carbonyl hydride in a complex combination with a ferrocene derivative of the following structures: (see figure). Where Q is P, As or Sb and R is phenyl or lower alkyl.
