El método comprende los pasos de: a) proporcionar una preforma (9) que tiene una orilla en su boca que comprende: un reborde (8) radial generalmente hacia afuera; un primer retén (10) ubicado cerca del extremo radialmente interno del reborde y el segundo retén (11) ubicado cerca del extremo radialmente externo del reborde; b) colocar la preforma (9) en un aparato de moldeo a presión a una temperatura elevada, con la preforma (9) ubicada en el aparato por el segundo retén (11); c) expandir la preforma (9) bajo presión para formar el cuerpo del contenedor; d) mover el primer retén (10) hacia abajo y hacia afuera con relación al segundo retén (11) para que el primer retén (10) se proyecte hacia adentro en la abertura para el contenedor con su eje alargado a un ángulo de 60° a 120° con el eje alargado del segundo retén (11), de modo que el primer retén (10) forma una orilla interna.
