Abstract
Una implementación particular descompone una imagen en un componente de estructura y un componente de textura. Un mapa de resistencia de borde se calcula para el componente de estructura, y un mapa de resistencia de textura se calcula para el componente de textura. Al utilizar la resistencia de borde y la resistencia de textura, se calculan pesos de enmascaramiento de textura. Entre más fuerte es la resistencia de textura, o entre más débil es la resistencia de borde, más distorsión puede ser tolerada por el ojo humano, y de esta manera, menor es el peso del enmascaramiento de textura. Las distorsiones locales luego son pesadas por los pesos de enmascaramiento de textura para generar un nivel de distorsión total o una métrica de calidad total.
