Abstract

La presente invención se refiere a plantas de melón novedosas que producen frutos que presentan una combinación de un rasgo de vida útil prolongada, así como un rasgo indicador de madurez. La presente invención también se refiere a semillas y a partes de las plantas, por ejemplo, a frutos. La presente invención se refiere, además, a métodos para producir y usar tales semillas y plantas. La presente invención también se refiere a secuencias genéticas novedosas asociadas con un fenotipo de cambio de la corteza en la madurez que, cuando se combina con un alelo de vida útil prolongada, altera significativamente las características de la fruta de melón en maduración, funciona como indicador de madurez fiable al tiempo que se conservan características comercializables adecuadas y da como resultado un tipo de planta de melón novedoso.
