Abstract
En la manufactura de polímeros extruidos hay una serie de defectos superficiales denominados piel de tiburón, piel de serpiente y piel de naranja que generalmente se relacionan con la reología del polímero fundido. Una forma grave de defecto superficial es la "fractura por fusión" que se cree que se produce cuando la velocidad de cizallamiento en la superficie del polímero es lo suficientemente alta como para que la superficie del polímero comience a fracturarse. Es decir, hay un deslizamiento de la superficie del polímero extruido con respecto al cuerpo del polímero fundido. Por lo general, la superficie no puede fluir lo suficientemente rápido como para mantenerse al día con el cuerpo del extruido y se produce una fractura en la masa fundida que generalmente da como resultado una pérdida severa de las propiedades de la superficie del extruido. Se describe un proceso de extrusión de polímeros en donde se eliminan estos defectos superficiales indeseables.
