Abstract
Una lente oftálmica multifocal tiene una superficie que varía al menos en una parte de la lente para formar un mapa de potencia superficial. El mapa de potencia superficial comprende una espiral, con una potencia que varía sustancialmente periódicamente tanto radialmente hacia afuera como angularmente alrededor de un eje óptico de la lente. Un período de variación radial es mayor que 100 micras y un período de la variación angular es mayor a 6 grados. También se describen métodos de hacer y usar la lente oftálmica multifocal.
