Abstract

La presente invención se relaciona con un sistema y método para cultivar un alga, preferentemente Sarcothalia crispata, que incluye liberar esporas del tejido reproductivo del alga, inocular un sustrato con esporas, germinar las esporas y cultivar el alga a partir de las esporas germinadas. La invención también se relaciona con un lote cosechado de alga que tiene un contenido de carragenina lambda de al menos aproximadamente 80 % en peso basado en la masa de todas las carrageninas y en donde la masa de alga es al menos 100 kg, con mayor preferencia al menos 500 kg y con la máxima preferencia al menos 1000 kg.
