Abstract

La presente invención se refiere a escenas sonoras en 3D, las cuales pueden sintetizarse o capturarse como un campo sonoro natural. Para la decodificación, se requiere una matriz de decodificación que sea específica para una determinada configuración de altavoz y se genera utilizando las posiciones de altavoz conocidas. Sin embargo, algunas direcciones de la fuente se atenúan para las configuraciones de altavoz en 2D, como por ejemplo, 5.1 surround. Un método mejorado para decodificar una señal de audio codificada en un formato de campo sonoro para L altavoces en posiciones conocidas comprende los pasos para añadir (10) una posición de al menos un altavoz virtual a las posiciones de los L altavoces, generar (11) una matriz de decodificación 3D (D'), en la que se utilizan las posiciones (Fórmula I) de los L altavoces y al menos una posición virtual (Fórmula II), mezclar descendentemente (12) la matriz de decodificación 3D (D'), y decodificar (14) la señal de audio codificada (i14) utilizando la matriz de decodificación 3D (D') ajustada descendentemente (Fórmula III).
