Abstract

Se proporciona un proceso continuo para convertir residuos plásticos en una materia prima para la polimerización de polietileno. El proceso consiste en seleccionar residuos plásticos que contienen polietileno y/o polipropileno, y después pasar los residuos plásticos a través de un reactor de pirólisis para craquear térmicamente por lo menos una porción de los residuos de poliolefina y producir un efluente pirolizado. El efluente pirolizado se separa en gas residual, un aceite de pirólisis que comprende una fracción de nafta/diésel/pesada y carbón. El aceite de pirólisis se pasa a una unidad de crudo en una refinería desde la cual se recupera una fracción de nafta (C5-C8), o una fracción de propano y butano (C3-C4). La fracción de nafta, o fracción de propano y butano (C3-C4), después se pasa a un craqueador de vapor para la producción de etileno.
