Abstract
La presente invención se refiere a un proceso para cultivar uno o más microorganismos capaces de metabolizar metano, donde el proceso comprende las etapas de: (i) adicionar un medio de fermentación a un reactor de fermentación; (ii) adicionar el o los microorganismos a un reactor de fermentación, lo que provee un medio de fermentación inoculado, en donde el o los microorganismos no incluyen un microorganismo recombinante; (iii) adicionar una fuente de carbono C1-C5, por ejemplo, metano, al reactor de fermentación y/o medio de fermentación inoculado durante la fermentación del o de los microorganismos; y (iv) adicionar opcionalmente oxígeno al reactor de fermentación y/o medio de fermentación inoculado durante la fermentación del o de los microorganismos, en donde el oxígeno se adiciona al reactor de fermentación y/o medio de fermentación inoculado para proveer un contenido de oxígeno no disuelto en el reactor de fermentación y/o un contenido de oxígeno gaseoso en un gas de escape que es como máximo de 10% (vol/vol).
