Abstract

La divulgación proporciona un método para generar un pez, crustáceo o molusco estéril. El método comprende la cría de (i) un pez, crustáceo o molusco hembra fértil hemizigótica mutada con (ii) un pez, crustáceo o molusco macho fértil hemizigótico con mutación, la selección de una hembra progenitora homocigota por selección genotípica y la cría de la hembra progenitora homocigota para producir el pez, crustáceo o molusco estéril. La mutación interrumpe el efecto materno de un gen de desarrollo de células germinales primordiales (CGP) y no perjudica la viabilidad, la determinación del sexo, la fertilidad, o una combinación de las mismas, de un progenitor homocigoto. La divulgación también proporciona métodos para crear organismos reproductores de agua dulce y de mar para su uso en la producción de organismos esterilizados de agua dulce y de mar, así como los propios reproductores.
