Abstract

La invención proporciona una formulación lubricante que comprende: (a) un aceite base seleccionado de aceites de los Grupos I a V de API y mezclas de los mismos; (b) 0,01 a 10 % en peso basado en el peso total de la formulación lubricante de un aditivo modificador de fricción; y (c) otros aditivos de formulación lubricante. El aditivo modificador de fricción tiene un índice de hidroxilo en el intervalo de 10 a 300 mg KOH/g y es el producto de reacción de reactivos que comprenden: i) un ácido graso dímero; ii) un poliol; iii) opcionalmente, un ácido dicarboxílico o diol C2 a C12; y iv) opcionalmente, un ácido monocarboxílico o monoalcohol C1 a C10. La invención también proporciona un método para lubricar un motor de combustión interna que comprende un cárter y un embrague húmedo y el uso de un aditivo modificador de fricción.
