Abstract
Una modalidad de la invención establece un mecanismo para codificar corrientes de video asociadas con el mismo contenido digital de manera que entonces los puntos de conmutación escalonados a través de dos corrientes de video ocurren a cada distancia temporal de compensación. La distancia temporal de compensación es menor que la distancia entre dos cuadros clave consecutivos en una corriente de video determinada; esto permite que un reproductor de contenido conmute a una corriente de video que tiene una calidad de reproducción arriba o abajo un nivel de una corriente de video actual a la distancia temporal de compensación del cuadro clave más recientemente reproducido; en efecto, el reproductor de contenido no espera la distancia temporal del cuadro clave completo antes de la conmutación.
