Abstract

Se describen métodos y aparatos para identificar y cuantificar microorganismos presentes en una muestra. Las lecturas de secuencias son clasificadas usando métodos existentes, sin embargo los resultados de clasificación son corregidos para tomar en cuenta el número de lecturas que se espera que sean clasificadas erróneamente, tal como se determina mediante simulación. Con estadísticas en cuanto al número esperado de lecturas mal clasificadas, se puede usar un método de mínimos cuadrados lineal (no negativo o de otro tipo) u otra técnica relacionada para ajustar el número de lecturas que se clasifican a varias unidades taxonómicas (por ejemplo, especies) y determinar valores más exactos en cuanto a las cantidades de aquellas unidades taxonómicas realmente presentes en la muestra, eliminando microorganismos en unidades taxonómicas falsamente determinados que están presentes en la muestra.
