Abstract
Se proporciona un sistema para el tratamiento de residuos infecciosos que emplea sub-sistema der triturado y manejo de residuos médicos que alimenta los residuos parcialmente procesados a un oxidante para eliminar residuos infecciosos potenciales en el aire antes de la transformación de los residuos médicos en co-productos útiles. Los residuos médicos se transforman en productos de valor añadido incluyendo los gases a base de hidrocarburos, líquidos a base de hidrocarburos, material carbonizado, y metales preciosos recuperados y materiales de tierras raras en un sistema que tiene como su elemento transformador una presión negativa, anaeróbica, o un sistema de carbonización. Con los residuos médicos como materia prima para la producción de productos valiosos, se realiza una alternativa económicamente viable y ambientalmente más responsable a los métodos tradicionales de tratamiento de residuos médicos.
