Abstract

Se describe un sistema de mezclador-sedimentador. El sistema comprende un mezclador configurado para recibir una fase orgánica y una fase acuosa, el mezclador está configurado para mantener la fase orgánica y la fase acuosa en una sola fase de emulsión inestable, en donde se produce la transferencia de masa entre la fase orgánica y la fase acuosa; y un sedimentador de columna que está configurado para recibir una sola fase de emulsión inestable desde el mezclador a través de una entrada de emulsión y también está configurado para separar la única fase de emulsión inestable en una fase orgánica estable y una fase acuosa estable en virtud de coalescencia; el sedimentador de columna que comprende además una salida orgánica arriba de la entrada de emulsión y una salida acuosa por debajo de la entrada de emulsión; el sedimentador de columna además disuade las transferencias de masa dentro de la fase de emulsión inestable y promover además la coalescencia de cada una de la fase orgánica estable y la fase acuosa estable.
