Abstract
La invención se refiere al uso de quitosán o una sal del mismo en una composición antitranspirante como un ingrediente antitranspirante. Los antitranspirantes actuales se basan en aluminio, pero sales inorgánicas tienen el efecto de dejar parches blancos sobre la ropa. Además, se percibe un riesgo de salud asociado con aluminio. La aproximación actual es reducir la cantidad de aluminio en antitranspirantes o a usar sales de metal adicionales tales como aquéllos de circonio. Sin embargo, esta aproximación tiende a disminuir la eficacia de la formulación y de ahí prueba ser más costosa. Antitranspirantes basados en circonio tienden a dejar parches amarillos en la ropa. Se proporciona el uso de quitosán o una sal del mismo en una composición antitranspirante como un ingrediente antitranspirante, en donde el quitosán o sal del mismo tiene un grado de acetilación de 0-15, de preferencia 0-12, muy preferiblemente 0-10%, en donde el quitosán o sal del mismo está ya sea en forma anhidra o disuelto en agua a un pH de no más de 6.0, de preferencia no más de 5.5, muy preferiblemente no más de 5.0.
