Abstract
Se divulga un cigüeñal para un motor de combustión interna que tiene un núcleo formado a partir de un primer material y una capa externa formada a partir de un segundo material, siendo el segundo material diferente del primer material. Ambos el primer y segundo materiales son preferentemente aunque no absolutamente metales. El núcleo del cigüeñal está preferentemente formado a partir de acero forjado, tal como acero C1117 AISI o similar. La capa formada encima del núcleo del cigüeñal es preferentemente hierro, tal como hierro nodular. El núcleo del cigüeñal se forma preferentemente teniendo un bloqueo clave de orientación en cada extremo. La capa de hierro formada por encima del núcleo del cigüeñal puede ser de una variedad de hierros, aunque se prefiere hierro nodular. El cigüeñal divulgado provee de este modo una alternativa al cigüeñal tradicional de acero forjado utilizando un núcleo de acero forjado de bajo costo y una capa externa de hierro nodular que incluye los contrapesos, brazos, poste, brida y muñones.
