Abstract
Se describe un proceso y el sistema para tratar aguas residuales. La invención degrada los lodos que se producen en el tratamiento del agua residual con el fin de reducir o eliminar la necesidad de deshidratación y desecho de los lodos. La invención también reduce la cantidad de aditivos nutrientes necesarios para sostener el proceso de tratamiento aerobio del agua residual. En una modalidad, la invención consiste en los pasos de: (a) proporcionar un sistema de tratamiento aerobio que reciba un suministro de agua residual; (b) tratar el suministro de lodo para romper las células microbianas presentes en éste y producir un lodo tratado que tenga una relación aumentada líquido: sólido y una degradación potencial incrementada en comparación con el lodo no tratado; (c) transportar un suministro del lodo tratado al sistema de tratamiento aerobio; y (d) degradar considerablemente el suministro de lodo tratado en el sistema de tratamiento aerobio. El proceso puede ser configurado para tratar el lodo activado que se produce mediante el sistema de tratamiento aerobio y/o el lodo primario separado del agua residual corriente arriba del sistema de tratamiento aerobio. El lodo tratado, como una opción, puede ser sometido a digestión anaerobia antes de entregarlo al sistema de tratamiento aerobio. El tratamiento de lodo puede hacerse en una unidad de tratamiento de lodos en comunicación para el paso de fluidos con el sistema de tratamiento aerobio. En las modalidades específicas, la unidad de tratamiento de lodos puede consistir en una tobera a alta presión u otro aparato o los métodos para provocar la lisis y licuefacción del material celular presente en el lodo.
