Abstract

El 4,8-dimetil-3,7-nonadien-2-ol, cuya relación ponderal de (E)-4,8-dimetil-3,7-nonadien-2-ol respecto a la suma de (E)- y (Z)-4,8-dimetil-3,7-nonadien-2-ol es de por lo menos 80%, o cuya relación ponderal de (Z)-4,8-dimetil-3,7-nonadien-2-ol respecto a la suma de (E)- y (Z)-4,8-dimetil-3,7-nonadien-2-ol es de por lo menos 80%, es usado como fragancia. Las fragancias tienen un carácter floral que es único en su género, similar al de la rosa. Se dan notas acompañantes con parecido a los cítricos, con olor a menta o hierbabuena que hacen recordar el ruibarbo.
