The present disclosure is related to a process by which metal powder alloys are sintered, to obtain a high hardness Rockwell C sintered coating on metal surfaces made of ferrous alloys and subjected to wear, to increase its hardness and wear resistance. The metal powder alloys are in a water suspension, which after evaporation thereof, are sintered over the ferrous alloy substrate. Sodium borate powder is used as a binding and reducing agent of the metallic powders. Pyridine, ammonia and carbon monoxide are also used as reducing agents in the furnace atmosphere.
