Abstract

La presente invención se refiere a un proceso para eliminar un compuesto de azufre de una alimentación de gasóleo de vacío con un bajo contenido de nitrógeno que incluye, poner en contacto la alimentación del gasóleo de vacío con bajo contenido de nitrógeno el cual comprende el compuesto de azufre, con un líquido iónico de fosfonio inmiscible en el VGO, para producir una mezcla de un gasóleo de vacío y de un líquido iónico de fosfonio inmiscible en el VGO; y separar la mezcla para producir un efluente de gasóleo de vacío que tiene un menor contenido de compuestos de azufre, con relación a la alimentación inicial del gasóleo de vacío. En la presente invención se encontró que la cantidad de compuestos de azufre a ser eliminada, se mejoró significativamente mediante el tratamiento de un gasóleo de vacío con bajo contenido de nitrógeno. El bajo contenido de nitrógeno y, especialmente, un bajo nivel de compuestos de nitrógeno polares aumenta la cantidad de compuestos de azufre que pueden ser eliminados.
