Abstract

La presente invención se refiere a un material degradable que comprende: (a) desde aproximadamente 60 por ciento en peso hasta aproximadamente 97 por ciento en peso de un primer material basado en el peso total del material degradable, y (b) desde aproximadamente 3 por ciento en peso hasta aproximadamente 40 por ciento en peso de un segundo material basado en el peso total del material degradable, en donde el segundo material es un oligómero que comprende lactato y glicolato. En otro aspecto, la presente descripción proporciona un material degradable que comprende: (a) el ácido poliláctico, y (b) un oligómero que comprende lactato y glicolato, en donde el material degradable tiene una Tg menor que 56 °C. En todavía otro aspecto, la presente descripción proporciona un material degradable que comprende: (a) el ácido poliláctico, y (b) un oligómero que comprende lactato y glicolato, en donde el material degradable tiene un pico tan delta de menos de 65 °C. Se ha encontrado sorprendentemente que los materiales degradables de acuerdo con la presente descripción proporcionan propiedades físicas que no son inherentes al ácido poliláctico solo. También se ha encontrado sorprendentemente que los materiales degradables descritos aquí proporcionan mejoras con respecto a la procesabilidad, los costos de producción, la flexibilidad y la ductilidad sin reducir su degradabilidad.
