Abstract
Un dispositivo de interfaz se configura para proveer uno o más enlaces a dispositivos médicos de primera parte, cada uno de los cuales se comunica usando un protocolo patentado; el dispositivo de interfaz puede traducir entre el protocolo patentado y un segundo protocolo que es accesible por medio de un segundo enlace al dispositivo de interfaz; los detalles del segundo protocolo se pueden proveer a terceras partes para configurar dispositivos médicos de tercera parte para conectarlos con el dispositivo de interfaz por medio de la segunda conexión; usando la segunda conexión, uno o más dispositivos médicos de tercera parte pueden enviar información y/o recibir información de los dispositivos médicos de primera parte, sin la necesidad de que el dispositivo (o dispositivos) de tercera parte tengan información acerca de los protocolos patentados de los dispositivos médicos de primera parte; los dispositivos médicos de primera parte pueden incluir herramientas quirúrgicas y equipo de apoyo relacionado, y el dispositivo médico de tercera parte puede incluir una estación de control usada para monitorear y controlar las herramientas y el equipo de apoyo.
